Mill Lane Vet

Surgical Excellence

sophisticated technology, used with care

Veterinary treatment can often involve surgical procedures, which can be stressful both for pets and their owners.

With vet Dr Joshua Rusnak’s advanced training and experience in this area, and our fully equipped, dedicated operating theatre, we can ensure that any operations your pet may need can be carried out as soon as possible and in a sterile environment.

Our policy is only to use the safest types of anaesthetics, to minimise the risk to your pet.

Keyhole Surgery

We are one of only a few practices in the UK to offer keyhole surgery. In order to reduce the number of open surgical procedures we need to carry out on our patients, we are equipped with a wide range of rigid endoscopes, allowing us to operate in the smallest of spaces (such as joints were we often use a scope as small as 1.9mm), to larger sites (such as the abdominal cavity or chest where we use 5mm scopes).

These scopes allow us to take magnified images of the inside of the body and perform keyhole surgery. In many cases this avoids the unnecessary pain associated with more invasive open surgery and allows our patients to make a quicker recovery.

Our vet Dr Joshua Rusnak has received advanced training in keyhole surgery, only offered in a few university centres in the world.

Advanced Surgery

We are experienced in, and equipped to perform, advanced orthopaedic and soft tissue surgeries, usually only offered in referral centres.

This ensures that our patients can be treated close to home and in a familiar environment rather than needing to be referred elsewhere. It also enables us to offer competitive rates for these more costly procedures, ensuring that our patients receive all the care they need.

In particular, some of the more complex orthopaedic surgical procedures we are happy to undertake include:

  • advanced fracture and joint surgeries

  • spinal investigation and surgery

  • cruciate repair by Tibial Tuberosity Advancement (TTA) or Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO).
